This Producer Makes ‘Bedroom Electronic’ Music: XXYYXX

Marcel Everett is a Los Angeles-based DJ and electronic musician record producer known as XXYYXX. He gained a following in 2012 at 16 years old for his song “About You”.

I️ was given the opportunity to meet him before graduating college. He attended Cal State LA as guest lecture that discussed artist management for my senior capstone course. He is one of the most humble producers I️ have met to date.

Like MeltyCannon, most of his producing is done out of his bedroom using Fruity Loops Studio and Ableton. His genre of music is described as post-dubstep, post-R&B, chillwave, and instrumental hip hop. He has collaborated with Australian singer Vanessa Elisha and electronic based producer Giraffage. In 2014, he created the song “What We Want” for Grand Theft Auto V.

In addition to his discography he is featured on “Get It How I Live” from Ty Dolla $ign Beach House 2 mixtape, accredited on Tory Lanez’s 2016 single “Flex“, and produced SZA’sChilds Play” featuring Chance the Rapper. Most recently, he’s published “Sacrifice“, which was featured on Fifty Shades of Freed Soundtrack.

He has definitely broken the stereotype and boundaries as an upcoming producer. His ability to garner fans of both electronic music and low-fi hip hop while being in the comfort of his own home is crazy.
