In wake of Run the Jewels’ latest project RTJ3, Atlanta’s own DJ Skarface cleverly reestablishes RTJ’s self titled debut project by mixing it with beats from DJ Shadow. Thus creating a 20-minute mix titled “Shadow the Jewels.”

“Making these mixes is just a way of further exploring the music that I listen to myself. DJ Shadow was one of the first DJs I discovered that really lived up to the “DJ” title and he inspired me to embrace the craft of mixing and scratching. Without him, I would not have bought my turntables. Run The Jewels just reminds me of why I became a Hip Hop fan to begin with. The beats, rhymes, and energy that they capture represents everything Hip Hop should be to me.” – DJ Skarface
The mix has also garnered the attention of Killer Mike, one half the Run the Jewels duo.
