Coachella 2018 Spotlight: Kamaiyah

If you miss the nostalgia of 90’s Rap and R&B and you plan on attending Coachella this year, we have an artist for you. Bay Area MC Kamaiyah, has been a Lunch Table favorite dating back to our roots at Golden Eagle Radio. But if you still haven’t heard of her by now here are some notes.

Kamaiyah is known for her nostalgic 80/90’s hip hop sound with samples from LL Cool J, and more you can find on WhoSampled. In 2015 Kamaiyah released her premiered single “How Does It Feel” off of A Good Night in the Ghetto, and in 2016 she landed a feature on YG’s single “Why You Always Hatin’?” with Drake.

She also has notable features with Stunna June, Lil Yachty, and Keyshia Cole as well as being an opener for YG on his Fuck Donald Trump tour.  Within a two year frame, her notable singles led to an inevitable position as a XXL Freshman of 2017 alongside KYLE, XXXTentacion, and Amine.

Visually, with assistance from AplusFilmz, her song “Dope Chick” was featured on BET JAMs.

Kamaiyah brings in an swagger that’s unforgettable. Rooted in Bay Area culture and as an excellent live performer, she’s one to not miss during Coachella 2018. Other artist to check out at during the two-weekend festival include Joja Smith, Giraffage, and Jacob Banks if you don’t want too much turn up.
