The San Francisco native began her singing career at the age of 3. Her father, also a singer, who frequently took her to music stores to purchase instrumentals for karaoke nights with her family, inspired her to sing. She would practice songs from amongst the greats including Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Destiny’s Child, and Celine Dion.
Growing confidence through family party karaoke nights, jQuelz decided to take her talents to the next level by performing at venues across the Bay Area from San Francisco, Daly City, Oakland, and San Jose.
Some of the most notable stages she’s performed on include The Herbst Theatre in San Francisco, the Center for the Performing Arts in San Jose, and one of her biggest feats, the Nuyorican in New York.
However, none of these stages could trump her most memorable performances; both set in personal atmospheres with nothing but loved ones in her ozone layer. This included a performance of the song “Halo” by Beyoncé at Serramonte Mall in Daly City, where, what seemed to her, an infinite amount of support from her family and friends helped push her dreams even further.
Another noteworthy performance in her books included a family and friends gathering at Iguanas in San Jose, where she first exposed her own written material and music.
On a side note, jQuelz enjoys watching her hometown heroes, the Golden State Warriors, and likes to dive into the Cooking Channel. Her favorite shows have always been “George Lopez” and “My Wife and Kids.” Currently, she’s into “New Girl”, “Jane the Virgin”, and is looking forward to the newest installment of “Orange is the New Black” on Netflix.
In between time, she enjoys spending time with her first love.
“I LOVE FOOD, FOOD IS LIFE HOT CHEETOS ARE LIFE. ICE CREAM IS LIFE, FRENCH FRIES, AND FRIED CHICKEN, AND FOOD, AND FOOD, AND FOOD.”
