For those who may not know, Surf is the debut album by Donnie Trumpet & The Social Experiment which was, and still is free on iTunes. “The First Time” literally sounds like an EP to the album, as it follows the instrumental heavy, soothing mood that replicates feelings of an impeccable beach day.

The Social Experiment enjoys taking risks. The album stirred up plenty of controversy considering that fans were expecting a synonymous sound to Chance the Rapper’s Acid Rap. In other words, the album was either really good or really bad based on your music preference.

However, when musicians refuse to confine to synonymous sounds and push for unheard original content, there’s no doubt that music lovers as a whole will appreciate the differences. This push is exactly what’s needed to stray away from the redundancy in music, and furthermore unites different genre listeners under one umbrella. Like it or not, you can only respect what Chance and The Social Experiment brings to the table.
