Memphis, Tennessee is home to some of the hip-hop’s most prominent artists — Yo Gotti, Three 6 Mafia, and producer Jazze Pha should ring some bells. Listening to tracks from them immediately brings the Dirty South to the table, a curated sound that combines elements of hip-hop, soul, and crunk. So when I stumbled upon Memphis prodigy Daz Rinko, I was shocked to hear how his sound is controlled with more jazz and funk.

Coming off a 10-month hiatus from releasing music, Daz Rinko appeared back and better after releasing ‘Following Love’ on SoundCloud. His distinct sound carries him as Memphis’ standout rapper, and this conversation we had solidifies his willingness to become a superior version of his former self.
