This is the feeling Vic Mensa seeks to capture in his new EP There’s a lot going on, released Thursday, June 2. His latest project since his 2013 breakout mixtape INNATETAPE, Mensa displays a raw and unbridled sound perfect for tackling today’s darkest moments.

This is displayed in “16 shots”, the first song he debuted via Beats 1 Radio; Mensa dedicates “16 shots” to Laquan Mcdonald, a Chicago teenager who in 2014 was shot 16 times and killed by police officers.

Mensa has partnered with the Hip Hop Caucus’ Respect My Vote! Campaign, making the EP a free download for anyone who pledges to vote here.
