Before the Hyphy Movement made its wave in the mid 2000s, Mac Dre was, and still is, the movement’s icon in the eyes of Bay Area inhabitants. Also known as Andre Louis Hicks, Mac Dre was the founder of Thizz Entertainment, who was shot down in Kansas City, Missouri in October 2004. His most famous track under the label “Feelin’ Myself” became one of the top anthems to the movement.

Recently, Thizz Entertainment artist Mistah F.A.B. released his latest LP Son of A Pimp 2, which contains the track “Still Feelin’ It”. This song features production from Palo Alto, California producer Sean T, who samples the Mac Dre track with a modern twist.
The video exhibits regular livelihood in the Bay Area; an energetic, hyperactive cluster of cities with a motive to feel themselves. As bizarre as “feeling yourself” may initially sound, it’s actually an idiom that means to enjoy one’s own presence inebriated or not. The visual features numerous Snapchat videos of Bay Area natives “feeling themselves” and a special portion toward the end with vintage Mac Dre footage.
