SOB x RBE’s “Carpoolin'” Video is a Time Capsule to the 80’s

Carpoolin' by SOB X RBE - The Lunch Table

80’s sounds. Sideshows. 80’s music video editing. This is everything you’ll indulge in when you see the visual to “Carpoolin’” by SOB x RBE. As the standout single to their debut album Gangin’, the Bay Area rap collective stays true to their fresh, ratchet, gang sound while fearlessly rewinding the clock to capture the attention of old schoolers and new comers:

As a native to the Bay Area, I get ecstatic when flashes of home appear on the internet; and in this particular video, the group sold me on the sideshows. I feel SOB’s energy watching the “Carpoolin’” video, and with the respect these kids earned last year (in addition to their appearance on the Black Panther soundtrack on “Paramedic!”), they’re slated to take over 2018 with little effort.

This isn’t the first time THE FADER linked up with 80’s-like artists from the Bay. Last year, the XXL Freshman Kamaiyah dropped a visual to “Fuck It Up” featuring YG, which stands as one of her most club banging hits.
