Hip Hop has been talking about one thing only: Kanye West. His Twitter antics have led people to believe that he’s good friends with President Donald Trump — his freestyle with a ‘Make America Great Again’ hat somewhat proved that point — and his recent releases of “Lift Yourself” and “Ye VS. The People” have got the people asking “What the fuck is going on through Kanye’s head?”
Though no one but Yeezy himself has the answer to that, we can only wait to see what he’s going to do next. Meanwhile, the remainder of hip hop is left to capitalize on the creative essence he’s emanated in recent days by flipping some of his new music. Take Texas-based rapper SABII for example.
SABII is part of Amarillo, Texas’ TNGLWD collective, who flipped Yeezy’s troll song released on April 27th. “Lift Ya Self” sits at a slower tempo than the original track, which allows the Texas rap phenom to speak more articulately and clearly. Nowadays the genre is saturated with artists mumbling or rapping too fast, whereas SABII goes against the grain an ensures his clever wordplay and insight is not overlooked.
