Erza Koening lead singer from Vampire Weekend created, produced, and wrote the Netflix Original anime Neo Yokio, which pays homage to English literature, New York fashion and culture, and of course, classic anime. The series stars Jaden Smith as the pink-haired character Kaz Kaan, the youngest “magistocrat” of a demon-slaying family who ironically is more interested in normal day-to-day teenage activities like playing field hockey and shopping.
Jaden’s sister, Willow Smith is a secondary character in the anime along with Tavi Gevinson, Susan Sarandon, Kid Mero, Desus Nice, and Jason Schwartzman.

Neo Yokio is set in a modern metropolis, where the young hero Kaz has a mission to save the city while also dealing with heartbreak, pressure from his peers and family. The Netflix Original seemingly represents an anime version of Static Shock. Kaz Kaan puts a humorous twist to demon-slaying with immense superpowers that help him save the city.
Japanese anime production studio Production I.G. produced the anime, who is prominently known for producing Ghost in A Shell and Psycho-Pass.
Neo Yokio is set to premiere on Netflix on September 22nd with its first season consisting of 6 episodes.
