Last night from his hotel room in Mandalay Bay, Stephen Paddock shot into a crowd of 22,000 concertgoers at the Route 91 Harvest Festival, which left over 50 dead and 515 injured according to the Las Vegas Police Department.

Several members of the hip hop community spoke on the matter and offered their condolences and reached out to those affected. For starters, Missy Elliott conveyed her own shock and disbelief at the state of the world, while sending her best wishes to the victims:

“Smh it was never this bad. Places u go to enjoy have become so unsafe!😢Prayers 4 those in Las Vegas who was there & the victims families🙏🏾.”

Unfortunately tweets for condolences, safety, and prayers have become common in recent history for concertgoers, as it’s been less than five months since the bombing at Ariana Grande’s Manchester concert that left 22 people dead. Below are reactions to the Las Vegas shooting from people of hip hop, ranging from prayers, personal feelings, and gun bans.
