Gerald Kirwan talks Prodigy SF Entertainment, Burd Management

In hip-hop, though not limited to the genre, a rapper’s success is inordinately gauged by lyrical skill and/or by their pure entertainment abilities. It’s the drums that Anderson .Paak played while on the augmented Camp Flog Knaw stage. It’s Waka Flocka wiping his behind with a fan’s Donald Trump jersey. But what’s circumstantially unappreciated are the people behind the scenes that make it all happen – like the A&R’s, public relations, and managers. If we look behind the Bay Area scene, we’ll find that Gerald Kirwan is no stranger these surreptitious acts.

Gerald Kirwan is the guy you’d want to know in the Bay Area. As the CEO of Prodigy SF Entertainment, he’s responsible for numerous club events across the Northern California region and has produced performances from established Bay Area artists — iAmSu!, Nef the Pharaoh, for example — and artists under his own management company, Burd Management: JG, Fvbe, Element, and HB.

Below is an exclusive interview with Gerald, hosted by Nico Blitz. Enjoy!
