The media portrays political messages that do not always include the hard facts of what is truly taking place behind the camera. Today there’s plenty of talks about police brutality and racism, which have always been relevant issues in our country. The lack of authenticity was caught by Daz Rinko, revealing his thoughts on the subject matter on his track ‘SOS.’
Story | Shealene Sakacs
The Memphis rapper features theMIND on ‘SOS’ with a soulful and optimistic approach in human equality. Regardless of how difficult it may be to stay strong through these misfortunes is essential. The message behind the song is to never give into the system and to always keep fighting through the hardships placed on people in today’s society.
‘SOS’ is a cry for help. I feel like the term ‘ignorance is bliss’ applies to many people in our country because it feels better to pretend these issues aren’t relevant.
Police brutality is becoming more prevalent in the media, while simultaneously being overshadowed by the next story. theMind lays down important words that speak heavily for the black community, “They can’t stop us if we keep fighting, they can’t kill me, they won’t kill me.”
It’s unfortunate that cases of police brutality and racism still occur today, but the most important thing to do is continuously fight back. If you are exposed to any of these harsh factors or even if you’re not, the only way to create a more hopeful future is by making a change in the present, and it doesn’t matter if it’s small or large.
‘SOS’ is off of Daz Rinko’s upcoming project that is set to release in 2017.
