Chano has always been an eclectic and diverse rapper by packing in lots of musical flares with different artists, especially in Donnie Trumpet and The Social Experiment’s project Surf (2015), and his third mixtape Coloring Book (2016). Chance has worked with artists across the spectrum from Jay Electronica in “How Great”, Justin Bieber in “Juke Jam”, and John Legend in “Penthouse Floor” to name a few.

Same goes for the “Your Body Is a Wonderland” singer. Mayer was a background voice in Common’s single “Go!” of his album Be (2005), and also featured on records like Jay-Z’s “D.O.A.” and Kanye West’s “Bittersweet”.

This changes the hip-hop/rap game in so many ways. With each generation the fluidity of hip hop blended with other musical genres continues to grow. With Chance open to changing the game, there’s no telling what hip hop will be like in the future.

Even the possibility of a Chance and John Mayer collaboration demonstrates that classic music doesn’t have to be labeled under a particular genre. Regardless of what music an artist is categorized into, diversity and breaking boundaries in music pushes the culture forward.
